Mayflower II, now recognized on the National Register of Historic Places as of September 2020, was built in Devon, England between 1955 and 1957 and then sailed across the Atlantic under Captain Alan Villiers with a crew of 33.  The ship has recently returned from Mystic Seaport Museum in CT, after undergoing a multi-year restoration in the Henry B. duPont Preservation Shipyard.  In celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims’ arrival in Plymouth in 1620, a crew of 27 under Captain Whit Perry spent three weeks sailing Mayflower II in July and August 2020 in Fisher’s and Block Island Sounds, Buzzard’s Bay, and Cape Cod Bay before finally being towed into Plymouth Harbor.  Part of this select crew included three members of the Colonial Navy of Massachusetts: Don Heminitz, Bob Miorelli, and Lee Singer.
